While a nice performance upgrade from the Ryzen 7 7840HS to Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 with the Framework Laptop 16, it's not too surprising nor these numbers at large. This Framework Laptop 16 upgrade basically puts the performance and power similar to the other Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 laptops we have tested over the past year. With that, the upgradeable Framework Laptop 16 remains a wonderful and upgrade-friendly laptop. The one downside though this time is the Ryzen AI 300 series offering for the Framework Laptop 16 coming rather late in the cycle and more than 12 months after Strix Point laptops first began shipping or a half-year after the same SoC motherboard upgrade options began shipping for the Framework Laptop 13.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 graphics option for the Framework Laptop 16 will be looked at in a separate article on Phoronix. Those wanting to learn more about the new options for the Framework 16 can see the options at the Frame.work site. Thanks to Framework Computer for sending out this review hardware for our Linux testing and benchmarking at Phoronix.
