GCC 16 Produces Faster Binaries Than GCC 15, Competitive Race With LLVM Clang 22
With the WebP image encoding library, the GCC 16 produced binary tended to produce slightly better performance than GCC 16. But for a number of the WebP test runs, LLVM Clang 22 was delivering better performance still over GCC 16/15.
Meanwhile for the new OCUDU project derived from srsRAN for software-defined radio, GCC provides noticeably better performance than LLVM/Clang. With GCC 16 there tended to be slightly better to comparable performance to GCC 15.
