Video encoding with the likes of the Kvazaar H.265 and SVT-AV1 video encoders was showing similar or worse performance to launch day. With SVT-AV1 it was also consuming slightly higher power consumption than December 2023.

Given all the Linux kernel scheduler improvements over the past two years and other upstream kernel enhancements at large, going into this Meteor Lake testing I was anticipating better performance especially given my other recent laptop tests. Instead the performance tended to be the same or actually regressed.
