Intel CPU Security Mitigation Costs From Haswell Through Panther Lake
When looking at the Firefox and Google Chrome web browser performance impact of running Panther Lake in "mitigations=off" mode, there was very little difference. The performance impact of the few relevant mitigations still in place for the Cougar Cove and Darkmont cores was very minor for the web browser performance.
With older generations of CPUs, mitigations=off was able to provide a nice speed-up for code compilation / software build times but with Panther Lake running in the mitigations=off mode contributed very little to speeding up the software compilation speed on these latest generation Intel CPU cores.
Surprisingly one workload where there still was a measurable performance difference to mitigtions=off on Panther Lake was for thw RawTherapee RAW photography software.
