Intel Xeon 6980P 1S Performance With DDR5-6400/MRDIMM-8800
In the Coremark synthetic CPU benchmark, a single Xeon 6980P matched the dual Xeon Platinum 8592+ 2P performance while enjoying much greater performance-per-Watt. The Xeon 6980P performance per Watt did fall slightly behind the AMD EPYC Genoa(X) processors.
AMG is one of the workloads that really enjoys very nice uplift with the MRDIMM 8800 memory both for single and dual socket configurations. A single Xeon 6980P with MRDIMMs could match the dual EPYC 9684X performance in this HPC benchmark.
Similarly, the WRF weather forecasting workload saw the single Xeon 6980P with MRDIMMs nearly matching the EPYC 9684X 2P and doing much better than prior generation Emerald Rapids. With DDR5-6400, a single Xeon 6980P was performing similar to a dual Xeon Max 9480 configuration.
The Xeon 6 Granite Rapids continued competing well with the AMD EPYC 4th Gen processors across various HPC benchmarks.
