AMD Radeon On Linux 6.13 + Mesa 25.0-devel vs. NVIDIA R565 Linux Graphics/Gaming Performance
Across the range of benchmarks run for this January 2025 Linux driver refresher, here is how the positioning stands for these higher-end NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 and AMD Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards. In many cases the RADV driver allows competitive performance with the Radeon RX 7000 series against the GeForce RTX 40 series on their official packaged driver, but the big caveat still is around Vulkan ray-tracing performance.
And the GPU power consumption results across all of these Linux gaming/graphics benchmarks carried out.
Finally some GPU core temperatures for those curious as well.
These fresh Linux GPU driver graphics benchmark results can all be found in full and raw form via this result page. Again, the intent today is on just delivering some fresh numbers off the latest AMD and NVIDIA Linux graphics drivers prior to the GeForce RTX 50 Blackwell and AMD Radeon RX 90x0 (RDNA4) Linux testing. It will be quite interesting to see how far NVIDIA advances Linux GPU performance with RTX 50 / Blackwell and then on the AMD side being curious especially how well the RADV driver performance will be at launch for RDNA4.
