An Early Look At Linux 6.18 Performance With Intel Xeon 6 Granite Rapids
With FIO using IO_uring there were some random write performance improvements when using Linux 6.18 and an EXT4 file-system. However, some of these runs were a bit noisy on the dual socket Granite Rapids server.
For real-world / general purpose workloads involving I/O like code compilation of large programs, the results were mixed. There were some slight gains in some of the code compilation benchmarks on Linux 6.18 Git while in other cases slightly slower than 6.17 stable.
For the ClickHouse database server, Linux 6.18 Git was performing slightly lower than the levels seen with Linux 6.17 stable.
