An Early Look At Linux 6.18 Performance With Intel Xeon 6 Granite Rapids

In other real-world workloads the Intel Xeon 6 Granite Rapids performance was largely flat when comparing Linux 6.17 stable and the current Linux 6.18 development kernel.

The main area of intrigue were in the select I/O tests as noted like Memcached and PostgreSQL and FIO where some gains were found over Linux 6.17. Linux 6.18 benchmarks on other hardware platforms are ongoing at Phoronix over the weeks ahead.

At least no major regressions for Xeon 6 Granite Rapids on Linux 6.18 with this kernel being very important for servers given the expectation Linux 6.18 will be the 2025 LTS kernel version.
