Linux 7.0 File-System Benchmarks With XFS Leading The Way

XFS secured another first place finish with the PostgreSQL 18 benchmarks on Linux 7.0 from this AMD EPYC server with Solidigm PCIe Gen 5.0 NVMe SSD storage.

With this round of file-system benchmarking on Linux 7.0 with the AMD EPYC 9745 and Solidigm D7-PS1010 PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD storage, XFS came out on top followed by EXT4, F2FS, and then Btrfs. Of course, there is a lot more to consider when selecting a file-system beyond just the raw performance -- like the features and reliably most important. In any event these are just the latest numbers for those curious about the Linux file-system battle. Once Bcachefs and OpenZFS are working on Linux 7.0 I will have fresh benchmarks there too.
