KDE Plasma 6.6 Showing Frequent Performance Advantage Over GNOME 50 With NVIDIA R595 Driver

The YQuake2 open-source game was also showing a surprisingly large performance delta between GNOME 50 and KDE Plasma 6.6 for this Ubuntu 26.04 installation with the NVIDIA R595 driver.

For the GPUScore: Breaking Limit benchmark, the performance was effectively the same under both desktops on Ubuntu 26.04.

Overall, KDE Plasma 6.6 with its Wayland session was delivering better performance than using GNOME 50 on Ubuntu 26.04. This was the same general outcome as the recent AMD Radeon testing with its upstream open-source driver stack.
