👁 Raspberry Pi 500+ computer keyboard

Overall the Raspberry Pi 500+ is a nice upgrade over the Raspberry Pi 500. Having 16GB of RAM is a much desired upgrade over the Raspberry Pi 400/500 that alone will make this keyboard computer more relevant for today's computing environment. Even running Firefox or Chrome with heavy web browsing is difficult in just 8GB of RAM. The NVMe storage also helps the Raspberry Pi 500+ perform much better than being limited to micro-SD storage. There was very nice uplift out of all the I/O benchmarks and other heavy I/O tasks like code compilation.

The Raspberry Pi 500+ with 16GB of RAM and NVMe storage alone make it a worthwhile upgrade but this keyboard computer is made even better by the mechanical keyboard. This new mechanical keyboard is much nicer to use than the Raspberry Pi 400/500 keyboard that is otherwise fine. And if you're into it, there is configurable LED lighting too with this keyboard.

All these upgrades though does lead to a higher price for this Raspberry Pi keyboard computer. Where as the Raspberry Pi 500 can be found for $90 USD, the Raspberry Pi 500+ will be retailing starting today for $200 USD or $220 USD for the keyboard computer kit. It costs more than twice the non-plus 500 model but with twice the RAM, NVMe storage, and a great keyboard it's still a fair price with all things considered.

Thanks to Raspberry Pi for sending over this Raspberry Pi 500+ review sample for launch-day performance benchmarking and testing at Phoronix. More tests featuring the Raspberry Pi 500+ will be coming up in the weeks ahead on Phoronix.
