AMD Threadripper 7980X Performance On Linux Two Years After Release
Right off the bat with starting off in some HPC benchmarks, the November 2025 state of Linux was delivering some small but consistent gains over the launch state for the Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series two years ago.
For OpenRadioss, OpenFOAM CFD, and other similar demanding CPU workloads there were some decent performance gains to find when running on the latest open-source Linux software... Nice not seeing things getting slower after two years due to security or other factors.
Also importantly is that the CPU power consumption wasn't any higher than at launch day to make for better efficiency / performance-per-Watt.
