Overall no real surprises out of Ubuntu 25.10 on the System76 Thelio Astra with Ampere Altra processors. In prior years there were some hearty optimizations to find with new Linux distributions with the newer kernel, compiler, and other packages, but the support is now rather mature at this point for the five year old platform.

For the geo mean on the 160+ benchmarks between Ubuntu 25.04 and Ubuntu 25.10 releases, the performance was rather flat. In any case Ubuntu 25.10 with its generic ARM64 Desktop ISO was working out well on the System76 Thelio Astra and still working out well, compared to Ubuntu 25.10 RISC-V dropping pre-RVA23 platform support, etc. But no exciting optimizatiosn to note unlike the newer AMD and Intel platforms on Ubuntu 25.10 and ahead of the all important Ubuntu 26.04 LTS cycle.
