The upgrade to Python 3.14 with Ubuntu 26.04 is also providing better Python scripting performance on the Framework Desktop.

The Linux 7.0 kernel on Ubuntu 26.04 is also providing some crypto wins too for modern x86_64 CPUs.

OpenSSL as shipped by the Ubuntu archive was enjoying some big time wins on Ubuntu 26.04.

In a variety of other technical computing workloads were also some other wins racked up for the new Ubuntu 26.04 on this AMD Ryzen AI Max+ desktop.

The CPU performance gains weren't as impressive as the Radeon 8060S graphics performance gains from the same software upgrades, but for many workloads there were still meaningful performance benefits to moving to Ubuntu 26.04. Fortunately, no real performance regressions observed either in the testing thus far. From my various benchmarking of the Framework Desktop with AMD Ryzen AI Max on Ubuntu 26.04 in its near-final form, this Ubuntu Linux release is working out quite well on this popular AMD desktop. Great to see especially with how compelling the Strix Halo performance was on Linux even with the state of performance at launch last year.
