For the larger source projects with increased I/O, their build times were longer under WSL2 such as for compiling LLVM. But with smaller projects the build time impact was less noticeable. Short of using WSL2 for a CI/CD farm, you may not notice the build time differences for the smaller projects.
Rather interestingly was finding the OpenSSL performance clearly superior when running under WSL2 than the bare metal Ubuntu installation. This was an unexpected surprise out of this round of WSL2 testing on Windows 11 25H2.
