Most pure CPU bound workloads like renderers perform great on WSL/WSL2.
Facebook's RocksDB database performs similar between WSL2 and Ubuntu 20.04 LTS where as with the original WSL implementation the poor I/O performance led to miserable results.
Even using Git within WSL2 means a huge speed-up compared to WSL.
