Larian Studios has one more trick up its sleeve for Baldur's Gate 3 fans: one final patch update. Baldur's Gate 3's final patch update was released on Tuesday (April 15), changing the state of the critically acclaimed title with brand-new content and features.

Patch 8 brings cross play, picture mode, new subclasses, and more
12 new subclasses have been released, free of charge, with each playable class receiving a new way to bring down those Mind Flayers. These new subclasses bring forth new animations, VFX, unique summons, powerful cantrips, abilities, and more. Additionally, the new Paladin subclass, the Oath of the Crown Paladin, has received newly recorded dialogue for the Oathbreaker Knight.

As mentioned, Larian Studios intends for Patch 8 to be the proverbial "passing of the torch" from them to the community. To achieve this, the gaming vets created the official Modding Toolkit Update, which is poised to bring forth "quality of life updates, partial level editing for existing items, characters, and triggers, all of which will allow increasingly ambitious projects to be realized," from a modding standpoint.
Other updates include:
- Photo Mode: "Adventurers can snap photos of their escapades during cutscenes, dialogue, and combat, and edit them to their heart's content with a slew of post-processing effects (and stickers…)"
- Cross-Play: "Introducing cross-play between PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Mac so players can party up with friends no matter what platform they play on."
Larian plans to go over everything from the highly-anticipated patch on Wednesday (April 16) at 9 AM EST/6AM PST. Additional live streams will follow on Larian's Channel From Hell to help "ease the wait" until Larian Studios' "new projects" (hint hint wink wink). The streams will serve as a behind-the-scenes deep dive into the gaming studio, the creation of BG3, secrets, easter eggs, and discussions involving the devs who helped create the game.
As for the "new projects" from Larian Studios, they empathically shared in a press release that "we promise we'll share more on that when we can!"
