Prime Minister Petteri Orpo (NCP) will be in Rome on Thursday and Friday to represent Finland at the Ukraine Recovery Conference, according to a government press release.

It said that the PM plans to meet with his Italian counterpart, Giorgia Meloni, among others.

The aim of the conference, which is in its fourth iteration, is to bolster and arrange support for Ukraine "for as long as needed", the government stated.

The conference has worked on issues about the recovery and long-term reconstruction of Ukraine since Russia's full-scale invasion of the country in 2022, according to organisers.

"Relative to its size, Finland is one of Ukraine’s most significant supporters. Since Russia launched its war of aggression, we have provided more than 3.8 billion euros in support to Ukraine," Orpo said in the release.

"Together, Finland and Ukraine have launched an international civil defence coalition to finance the building of civil defence shelters in Ukraine. We invite all countries to join the coalition, and many parties have already expressed interest in getting involved," the PM continued.

Orpo added that Finland's cooperation in the effort was "a way to support Ukraine on its path to EU membership".

More than 10 Finnish firms and representatives are also scheduled to attend the conference, the government said.
