The City of Helsinki is expanding the areas where rented e-scooters will be required to be parked in designated spots.
In those zones, riders are required to park in the designated spots, the city said in a press release on Tuesday.
Starting this spring, the zones will also include the neighbourhoods of Taka-Töölö, Kallio, Kalasatama and Pasila, as well as other spots in the city, including near train and metro stations.
The City started the e-scooter no parking zone effort a few years ago, due to users leaving the micromobility devices on sidewalks and other inappropriate places.
At first, the zones were only in the very centre of the city.
By the end of June the zones will also expand to the centres of the Vuosaari, Puotila and Tapanila districts.
The e-scooters' apps feature live maps, which among other things show where the no-parking zones are. Renters are not able to end their rides while they're in the no-parking zones, unless they are in designated e-scooter spots.
People who don't park in the right way — or the wrong place — can potentially face removal fees, according to the paper.
The city has published a map of the expanded areas.
