Bihar est un état dans la région orientale de l'Inde. [4] [5] C'est le 12ème plus grand état en termes de taille géographique de 38,202 pieds carrés et 3e plus grand par population. Il est délimité par l'Uttar Pradesh à son ouest, au Népal au nord, à la partie nord du Bengale occidental à l'est et à Jharkhand au sud. La plaine de Bihar est divisée en deux parties par la rivière Ganges qui coule d'ouest en est [6]. Bihar a une superficie forestière de 6 764,14 km2, [7] qui représente 7,2% de sa zone géographique. En 2000, le sud du Bihar a été séparé du Bihar pour former le nouvel état de Jharkhand. [8] Près de 85% de la population vit dans les villages. Près de 58% des Biharis ont moins de 25 ans [9], ce qui représente la proportion la plus élevée en Inde. The Bihar plain is divided into two parts by the river Ganges which flows from west to east.[6] Bihar has forest area of 6,764.14 km2,[7] which is 7.2% of its geographical area. In 2000, southern Bihar was separated from Bihar to form the new state state of Jharkhand.[8]Close to 85% of the population lives in villages. Almost 58% of Biharis are below the age of 25,[9] which is the highest proportion in India. Bihar was a centre of power, learning and culture in ancient and classical India.[10] From Magadha arose India's first and greatest empire, the Maurya empire as well as one of the world's most widely adhered-to religions, Buddhism.[11] Magadha empires, notably under the Maurya and Gupta dynasties, unified large parts of South Asia under a central rule.[12] Its capital Patna, earlier known as Pataliputra, was an important centre of Indian civilization.
