Le quietisme dans la philosophie est une approche du sujet qui considère que le rôle de la philosophie est essentiellement thérapeutique ou curatif. Les philosophes quietistes croient que la philosophie n'a pas de thèse positive, mais plutôt sa valeur est de désamorcer les confusions dans les cadres linguistiques et conceptuels d'autres sujets, y compris la philosophie non-quietiste. En réformant les problèmes supposés d'une manière qui fait apparaître le raisonnement erroné dont ils apparaissent, le quietiste espère mettre fin à la confusion de l'homme et aider à retrouver un état de tranquillité intellectuelle. Quietism in philosophy is an approach to the subject that sees the role of philosophy as broadly therapeutic or remedial. Quietist philosophers believe that philosophy has no positive thesis to contribute, but rather that its value is in defusing confusions in the linguistic and conceptual frameworks of other subjects, including non-quietist philosophy. By re-formulating supposed problems in a way that makes the misguided reasoning from which they arise apparent, the quietist hopes to put an end to man's confusion, and help return to a state of intellectual quietude.
