Zelenskyy: Ukraine submits Easter truce request to USA, uncertain if message will reach Russia
Ukraine has submitted a request to the USA regarding an Easter ceasefire, though it remains unknown if they will have the opportunity to convey this message to Russia; the Ukrainian proposal for an Easter truce remains standing, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said.
"We have all seen their response in the media: they (the Russians – IF-U) are reportedly not ready for this. I do not know how serious this response is. We have submitted our request to the American side. I do not know if they will have the opportunity to convey their message to the Russians. We shall see. Our proposal for a ceasefire on Easter remains," Zelenskyy said during a meeting with journalists on Thursday.
As reported, on March 30, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine supports any formats for ending the war that preserve the dignity and independence of the state, and is also ready for any format of ceasefire, particularly during the Easter holidays.
On April 1, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine hopes the USA will help involve Russia in a trilateral meeting and support the proposal for a ceasefire during the Easter holidays.
