Hi, this is Nerdyguy2000 writing this. (I hope it wasn't a bad idea to create this topic...)

As many users reading this will know, there have been many forum topics recently, some more fitting for the forum than others. For example, there have been nominations for bureaucrat and administrator, three new namespace ideas, and many more, among those, a suggestion for a template. I don't wish to blame the creator of that topic, but I think that template suggestions go on the community portal. But that's i a little subjective. This subjectivity is the issue I would like to discuss with other users. I think there should be more specific and clear guidelines for which discussion pages to use for what.

To put out shortly, I want to clarify guidelines about the forum so as to avoid bloating the list of topics. We tend to expect more discussion at the forum, so com portal topics are generally a little easier to resolve.

Before any questions arise about where I should be putting this topic (lol), I'd like to say this: this topic will probably have a lengthy discussion about a very complex topic, and as such should be where the big discussions go, that being, the forum.

What goes on the forum?

To put it shortly, I think nominations and proposals that are likely to have lengthy discussions and affect many pages should go here.

What goes on talk pages?

I think things specific to one page, be that questions about the page, small proposals, and issue reports that affect only one page, should go on that page's talk page. (One page, occasionally more...)

What goes on the portal?

I think things that affect or simply relate to multiple pages should go on there alongside minor nominations and questions about the wiki as a whole.

What goes on the admin noticeboard?

This is where the guidelines are most clear: things like block requests or general issue reports that require special user rights to help with. That part is pretty clear.

All in all, these things are largely up to debate. -~- Nerdyguy2000   Talk   Edits  00:40, 30 November 2024 (UTC)

Support guidelines as proposer, I think they should be as I said above. Feel free to comment here. -~- Nerdyguy2000   Talk   Edits  00:40, 30 November 2024 (UTC)

Kind of, but there's never been clear, written guidelines about it. -~- Nerdyguy2000   Talk   Edits  02:01, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
