Add site specific roles

[edit source]

I would like to add site specific roles to Discord. Especially related to admins/directors (and possibly editors) it would be nice to know which site they "belong" to. Ideally I foresee user changeable roles, so that end users also can add/remove themselves to connect to a given site, but I'm also good with these roles added to the staff. I agree with adding specific roles to directors. Editor does not mean anything and does not belong to a specific wiki, e.g I'm admin on the French wiki and an Editor here. β€’ Yanis48 (talk) 21:25, 8 July 2018 (UTC)

Support It would be :ok_hand: to have roles for different languages for both editors and directors alike. Even editors imo have their favourite wikis, ones they edit the most. Frisk (Talk page) 21:27, 8 July 2018 (UTC)

Make this page unindexed again

In the wiki discord @Sonicwave mentioned that this page is intended to be unindexed so people looking for the Minecraft discord do not accidently join the wiki discord. This page needs to be unindexed again for this reason, since the NOINDEX tag was removed for no apparent reason, and only directors can make edits to this page.  Oppose. With Google now indexing Discord server invites directly, this page isn't a top result for "Minecraft Discord" anymore. As such there is no reason to have this page unindexed. Meanwhile having it indexed allows users to more easily find the "Minecraft Wiki Discord". -- πŸ‘ Image

Oppose -For reasons above, I had done this a while ago on the PT wiki. ~CraftianosHard (discutir | minhas ediçáes) πŸ‘ Image

For context, in 2020-2021 there were a lot of people mistaking this server for a general Minecraft Discord, and joining to ask unrelated support questions or find people to play with. This resulted in many complaints and multiple changes to the rules and MCW:Discord page, including reducing the invite button down to a simple link that's hard to find. This seemed to become less of an issue in early 2021 which was when NOINDEX was added. I don't remember if Discord invites themselves were indexed then, though I seem to recall that an actual invite occupied the first Google result for "Minecraft Discord" with this page being the second or third.
As of now, this page is pretty far down (though I'm not sure if it's due to NOINDEX only recently being removed). However, the Discord link is already pretty obvious in the sidebar (which does distinguish it as "Wiki" Discord), and readers interested in discussing the wiki seem likely to join it from there instead of a separate Google search. So although I'm fine with leaving the page indexed, I'm still inclined to πŸ‘ Image
Weak support restoring the NOINDEX keyword. –Sonicwave talk 19:53, 26 April 2024 (UTC)

Strong oppose It won't solve anything. People will get to a wiki discord server anyway, just this time it'll be the Fandom one.
We should promote our social media, not hide them. Trying to hide them as much as we can is just a complete nonsense in my view. Social media are here to increase the interest in given subject. In our case, it is to get feedback from readers, onboard new editors and provide a place for long-time editors to just discuss/comment on stuff. Because somebody from mod team wants to have less work isn't a reason to noindex the page. TreeIsLife (talk) 20:31, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
