The page "Tutorial:考古" in zh wiki and the page "Archaeology" are not the same page, and I have explained why in revision 2475380. The IP user 112.41.200.176 is an infamous vandalist who has been continuously making vandalism in zh wiki for the past three years, and has been blocked in zh wiki (you could see the block logs). @AblazeVase69188: the zh interwiki was originally added by User:Liaoxiangbin in Special:Diff/2389628. Considering Archaeology describes a collection of gameplay mechanics instead of a specific feature, an interwiki to a tutorial page seems reasonable as well as long as there is not closer match. Interwiki links don't always need to have the exact same content after all. However as I can't understand Chinese, I'm obviously unable to determine if the pages actually fit in this case. The bot adding the interwiki works automatically and the tutorial link would have to be removed from all other languages to avoid the bot from adding it again. --👁 Image

I don't know the background of this block. The usual practice on Wikipedia is to disallow talk page access if they use their talk page for any other purpose than appealing the block. What’s your issue with modern JavaScript standards? Your sprite doc code is barely readable due to the callback hell that could’ve been prevented by the use of modern features, namely async and await. I would love to write more modern JavaScript, however at the time of writing the code the MW ResourceLoader did not yet support ECMAScript6. As such I was unable to use nice features like async, await, let and => (arrow functions). I was limited to using ECMAScript5, which explains the edit and comment you linked. Luckily by now we are able to use ECMAScript6 with the ResourceLoader, which still isn't very modern, but old scripts can be updated to use the nicer functions you mentioned. -- 👁 Image

Many things under Tutorials probably violate our rules about capitalization, or have icons littering the prose (icons belong in lists), and often the grammar needs improvement. Some tutorials may also be out of date. Hello, I am referring to the edit you made on the Soul Sand page, changing the transparency from yes -> no.

This is false. It does not let through light, sky light, nor is it visually transparent.

This is further verified by checking the Minecraft Property Encyclopedia where it states that soul sand has an opacity of 15 meaning it is opaque.

If I was wrong about something feel free to correct me but I will revert the change in the mean time

Actually, Witches and Illagers would not be monsters but would be hostile mobs actually or you can also call them as another description rather than putting them into the category of monsters, because monsters are the undead mobs and the mobs like slimes, endermen, creepers, and piglins as well. And Illagers and witches are not monsters but are humanoids or hostile mobs. And Ravager would still be an animal mob but a monster too because Ravager shares many features with animals that Ravagers do ram similar to bison, as well as they become ridden similar to illagers, and while biting makes Ravager a monster, Ravager is also an animal mob too, as ravagers are still real bison who are tamed by illagers. Not just the person, but the whole entire wiki moved along with its community, first from Gamepedia to Fandom, and then from Fandom to here. You can see the Reddit announcement here. You can read the full history at Minecraft Wiki:History. The Gamepedia version is dead, and the Fandom version is still there and kicking, but obsolete and deprecated and full of ads.

Hi Markus! I have a couple questions about random MediaWiki things, and you're the one who knows, like, everything about wikitext and parser functions and whatnot, so I thought I'd ask you.

Firstly, I was looking at some template code just now, and I saw something that looked a little like this: {{#vardefine:<thingy>}}. mw:Extension:Variables doesn't explain what a vardefine function with zero parameters other than the variable being defined. If I might ask, do you have any idea what this code does, if anything?

Second, I notice that in at least a few template, the code {{#if:{{{1|}}}|{{{1}}}|<other text>}}, although to my experience the code {{{1|<other text>}} does the exact same thing. Any idea why that might be? Is the latter code not as good for performance or something?

{{#vardefine:name}} without a value will set the variable to an empty string, this is often used at the start of a template using variables to make sure the variable doesn't already contain any value anymore from a previous template usage.

{{{1|<other text>}}} will only display the other text if the first parameter is not defined, while the #if checks if the parameter has a non-empty value. This matters for uses like {{template||text}} where the first parameter is technically set to an empty string, meaning the "other text" won't be displayed unless the #if version is used. -- 👁 Image

I believe that my edit which you reverted does meet Minecraft Wiki:TRIVIA.

First, it is not obvious to readers (people may assume that the capitalization was first revealed by the film's subtitles) and is information that readers are not likely to know (the novelization isn’t as much talked about as the film) but would be interested in (this is debatable as everyone is interested in different things; I particularly find this trivia interesting).

Second, this information about the capitalization of the term "Great Darkening" does not fit anywhere else on the page about the novel (unless you think there is a better place for it on that page or another page).

Third, it is a veritable fact that the precise capitalization of the term "Great Darkening" was shown in Chapter 23 of the novel before it was shown by the film's subtitles when the film was released digitally.

Fourth, the fact that this specific detail was revealed in a tie-in book instead of the film or even the soundtrack or from the film crew or cast is surprising, though it is not essential information.

Some cinemas provide a few screenings with subtitles enabled. In others you can request subtitles during most normal viewings in which case you are usually provided with a mirror to attach to your seat so that you can read the subtitles projected on the back of the cinema. I am sorry that I had made massive unnecessary edits before, like creating uncommon typo redirects and adding hatnotes, to let myself satisfied. Actually, the edits cluttered recent changes, and almost did not help readers. After two months of the block, the content type of my edits has greatly changed and my mood is no longer affected by my edits here. I realized that my edits before the last block have brought bad effects and there is nothing wrong to not have substantial edits, but every edit one has made changes the community's impression of him. I could make minor but legitimate edits like adding categories to redirect pages, or simply not make the bad edits mentioned above. If I can create new page again, I will focus on making more important edits like creating content pages, and merge several unnecessary edits into one. Where did someone tell you to remove the italic? I can only see you being told to not remove the "(song)" disambig from the display title. In any case I'm a bit unsure about if you should use italic for song titles or not, it seems to be used inconsistent between namespaces. I mainly reverted your edits because you removed the namespace and disambig from the display titles, which should stay in any case. -- 👁 Image

Individual song pages haven't had italicized titles since like 2024, like this vanilla song Minecraft (song). The new song pages in the mainspace also follow that as well as the Movie and Story Mode ones (talk page stalker) 👁 Image
