Reed Smart: AI Detective is a free Minecraft Education map. The film noir-inspired map consists of solving three cases in a hard-boiled detective setting where the player discovers deepfakes, plagiarism, and AI-generated content.
The player starts the map in an empty, black room where they have to press the button on the gold block. There, they find themselves in the Smart Detective Agency within a room alongside Detective Reed Smart. If they did not skip the tutorial, they have to follow the particles appearing along the path upstairs, leading to the agency office. Once there, Detective Smart introduces the player to the agency and gives them instructions on how to use their notepad and pen, which outlines any NPC in purple. As part of the tutorial, Detective Smart tasks the player into solving The Case of the Empty Coffee Cup, which actually consists of making him coffee. The player has to follow the trail of coffee beans using their magnifying glass, which outlines the trail in yellow, then investigate the coffee bag and take a picture of it using their camera. After interacting with the coffee machine, the player has to arrange the clues on the case board, then choose one of three cases to begin with. The player has to complete all three cases in order to finish the map.
Join Detective Reed Smart to investigate curious cases of AI misuse in this mystery from Minecraft Education! Analyze deepfakes, spot AI-generated content, and learn how AI works as you follow clues and analyze evidence across three cases. Build AI and information literacy skills that will help you get wise and stay cautious of online information. Ready to crack the case?
I'll never forget my summer working at the Smart Detective Agency: a summer of hot days, hot nights, and hot coffee. This is my story.
Here we are! Welcome to the Smart Detective Agency team. We move fast around here. Say you're gonna write this down in that little Notepad of yours...
Hmm? What is it, kid?
The rest of the summer was pretty slow. Detective Smart taught me how to play cards and I taught him how to order hats online. I learned a lot about gathering information... Skills like Cross-Check and Source Verification. I learned that you can't always believe what you see or hear... So, it's okay to question the information you find out there! But what I'll remember most about that summer were the people I met, and the friends I made working at The Smart Detective Agency.
Meet Blake Doll. A big fish in a little fountain. If that case taught me anything, it's that there's always a bigger fountain!
Your prank videos spread across the internet like peanut butter, makin' you a Stream-Star celebrity! Now the word on the street is that your latest video is making everyone go nuts for all the wrong reasons.
AND? That's not me! I never had a bucket of fish, and I would never do a prank that would hurt anything or anyone! Not a fountain! Not a fish!
Reed Smart! Here for an autograph? Ha ha ha! JK!
Dahl House Pizza. This place looks familiar... I hope it isn't one of those wacky pizza joints with the spooky robot characters. Those things give me the creeps!
Thanks for all your work, detectives! And please, don't forget to like, favorite, and follow our Dahl House Stream-Star Pizza Adventure Channel! BuhbuhbuhBYEEEE!!!
I've seen more than a few school plays in my life, but this classroom drama really rang my bell...
Of course, detective. My son, Rimes, wrote a beautiful poem for the Birchwood School District's annual poetry contest. He loves poetry and was so excited when he heard his poem made it into the finals!
The next day, we were informed by the school that his poem had been disqualified and that he had been expelled from the contest. They told us that the contest judges believed his poem was AI-generated!
Upon your lily throne you sit: bumpy, green, and bold.
Eyes as bright as stars at night; what secrets they must hold.
Tonight I beg your midnight crown, please sing your songs of old.
For humble creature, in our hearts, your serenades we hold.
Gravity pulls, the string unwinds.
Momentum swings, the yo-yo finds.
Energy concerved, it dances free;
cycle of motion, pure physics to see.
Though I couldn't see the monitor screen, I could tell by the tears forming in Detective Smart's eyes that this was clearly one of the greatest poems ever written.
So I guess that's that. Now, I've got a poem for all of you.
With Rimes' poem on the list,
the class is now dismissed!
If it turns out there's a twist,
I hope it's nothing we missed!
This case went like an ice cream covered jalapeno. It started off sweet, but things started heatin' up when we got to the pepper...
Welcome! Ready for some seaside snacks? The special today is 'Ants on a Log', and despite what you may have heard, they're actually ant free! So, what can I get you?
It was really awful of me. I'm so sorry. I hope you can forgive me. I'm just a fool who let his dream of a spicy world burn out of control. I know now that what I did was not caliente. It was mild, which in pepper speak means it was wrong.
