It says that ancient debris cannot spawn exposed to air but shows a picture of "naturally-occurring" debris spawning in a cave open to air. One of these must be flawed
I'm not sure why ancient debris is referred to as an ore. It doesn't seem to match the typical definition of ore (because the name "ancient debris" seems to imply it is not a natural rock or sediment, but remnants of destroyed artificial structures). Is ancient debris internally (in-game) classified as an "ore" somewhere? --AttemptToCallNil (report bug, view backtrace) 07:24, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
This snapshot contains new biomes, blocks, and a fancy new ore called "ancient debris".
Is it affected by the fortune enchantment Hazbo111 (talk) 19:15, 7 March 2020 (UTC) No, it only ever drops 1 block of debris, similar to iron and gold ore. 173.64.101.203 12:55, 20 October 2020 (UTC)
I'm wondering how the max number of debris in a chunk adds up to 13? Extrapolating from what I know about the generation of diamond ore I would expect veins to "grow" towards the south east meaning that only the chunks to the north, west and north west of a given chunk could contribute debris? I'm also assuming that the veins with a maximum of 2 debris could only have 1 of them cross the border?
If my assumptions are correct, which I'm not at all certain of, that would mean there would be a maximum of 5 debris from the chunk in question and 3 debris from each of 3 neighboring chunks adding up to 14? --Hexalobular (talk) 21:57, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
is it good for building???????????--Jadon0506 (talk) 00:50, 18 March 2021 (UTC)Jadon
Just please stick to obsidian and put anthont debris in random places on the build110.33.71.111 08:20, 27 May 2021 (UTC)
So we will be able to get copper ore soon but we need a new one for upgrading netherite called endium it should allow you to teleport for the cost of durability and stop ender men getting angered by looking at their eyes and stop shuckers giving you levatathon please agree with me I like Minecraft itβs great sadly I am unable to update Minecraft to the caves and cliffs update and please make it stonger than netherite. Made by Jarvis. I have not copied anything I typed this myself I got the ideas from a video sorry about that β Unsigned comment added by 110.33.71.111 (talk). Sign comments with ~~~~

This originally started as an argument of whether it was better to mine at layer 14, 15, or 16. I analyzed 40,000 nether chunks from 30000,30000 to 33199,33199 in a Paper 1.17.1 server using FAWE, and the results were quite interesting.
| Altitude | Debris Count |
|---|---|
| 14 | 4325 |
| 15 | 4980 |
| 16 | 5493 |
| 17 | 5044 |
| 18 | 4188 |
The "periodic normal distribution" still looks to be correct at first glance, but level 16 has much more debris than 15 now in version 1.17. I might analyze more chunks (the counts took between 40 and 42 seconds each, so I can do this on a larger scale) if needed. β Unsigned comment added by Greateric (talk β’ contribs) at 01:44, 12 July 2021 (UTC). I analyzed 20k x 20k blocks ~ 1.6m chunks i got ydist and xz dist. former to this discussion and latter to a chunk border myth i saw on youtube. --194.110.84.145 23:50, 21 December 2021 (UTC)MrSauna
Please document where you found ancient debris in a basalt delta as part of your revert. Just making the statement doesn't help. SirDaddicus (talk) 14:18, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
minecraft:ore_ancient_debris_large and minecraft:ore_debris_small), which are programmed to replace blocks in the base_stone_nether block tag (that is, netherrack, basalt, and blackstone). I've also verified this in-game. The page states that ancient debris only replaces netherrack in Bedrock, so if you tested there, that might be the reason you didn't find any debris (also keep in mind a single chunk is not a good sample size).--Capopanzo (talk | contribs) 14:30, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
