Do boats break if you draw it in and it lands in water?75.165.49.48 00:35, 1 February 2015 (UTC)
What about pocket edition? Fishing rods were added in 0.11.0 . What are the chances for each catch in pocket? What has been removed?98.182.58.147 12:44, 6 June 2015 (UTC)
But name tags aren't in pocket edition! Boorider7 (talk) 12:13, 7 September 2015 (UTC)
Not sure if this is pocket edition exclusive or not. Can someone add this to the table? - MinecraftPhotos4U (talk) 18:05, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
I fished them up too in pocket edition. I then renamed them in an anvil to for sale then put them in a chest , and put a sign saying "costs 8 emeralds." I then have people come to my world and say in chat "wanna buy these pants for 8 emeralds?" I don't know the probability yet though but they might be replacing tripwire hook. I don't know if there are other pocket exclusive things you can fish up though. Boorider7 (talk) 12:14, 4 October 2015 (UTC)
I've been doing a lot of fishing (thousands of catches) using a fishing rod enchanted with LotS III, Lure III, and Unbreaking III. According to the Catch Possibilities table on the Fishing page, the probability of catching junk should be zero with this rod. However, I've been catching far more junk than treasure! What gives? I should point out that I have been casting with the enchanted rod and reeling in with another (sometimes enchanted, sometimes unenchanted) rod. I thought that the enchantments of the rod you cast with were in effect even if you switch rods. Or is it only the Lure enchantment? I know for a fact that the Lure III enchantment is in effect because I sometimes have a wait time of zero before a catch spawns. I also know for a fact that the Unbreaking enchantment does NOT transfer, because when I use a second rod that does not have an Unbreaking enchantment, it is used up much faster than one with an Unbreaking enchantment. So what about LotS? Does that enchantment stay in effect even if you switch rods after casting? If so, why am I catching so much junk? Either I'm misinterpreting the information from the wiki, or the probabilities stated are incorrect. ChupadooDad (talk) 20:44, 5 February 2016 (UTC)
Well I been playing Pocket edition for a while now and there's something missing from the list...enchanted Fishing rods (Lure I or II, Luck of Sea I,II or III, or unbreaking on it) Or all at once to make a Master rod (What I call them) ;)
How is this determined? It says that Glass doesn't block sunlight, but Leaves do. What about water? If there is water placed above a sign above the fishing pond, does that block sunlight for the purposes of fishing? 73.238.254.118 03:22, 11 May 2016 (UTC)
Anomie x, I was trying to test the 3 point damage while hooking an item, but couldn't hook an item, for the life of me, so I thought hooking an item was just something they removed. You can vouch that hooking an item is possible? – Sealbudsman talk/contr 01:17, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
this.caughtEntity instanceof EntityItem ? 3 : 5. Anomie x (talk) 01:31, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
For some reason, this page is claiming that Mending can only be put into a fishing rod by being added with a book and an anvil. However, I know for a fact that Mending fishing rods, as well as Mending bows, can both be fished and are seen as a Treasure item.
Why is this being modified back to incorrect details? Anyone know?

On the Fishing page (for which the talk redirects here), the junk table shows Ink Sac × 10 as one of the possibilities. It does not show a single Ink Sac as an option in any of the tables, junk or otherwise. I just caught a single Ink Sac (in 1.10.2) so, there must be a mistake. Does anyone know what the actual behaviour is? Perhaps it is 1-10 Ink Sacs? As they are only caught once in every 830 times, it is hard for me to verify this. I don't know why nobody's found this yet. I've managed to get a fishing rod with Mending, Lure III, Luck of the Sea III, Unbreaking III, and Fortune III by using an anvil and enchanted books. So far, I've only done this in my creative world, but the Fortune went on the fishing rod, no problem, just like any other enchantment. Can someone confirm? 98.114.37.67 00:01, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
For the image on the wiki, the "invslot" bit is broken, and nobody seems to have tried to fix it. Hackintosh (talk) 04:21, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
If you use a broken fishing rod to make carrot/warped fungus on a stick, and then it breaks into a normal fishing rod, will the fishing rod have full durability, or the same as before it was crafted into a carrot/warped fungus on a stick? --GK1H (P/T/C) 14:47, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
An anonymous IP address changed the durability to 384 for Bedrock Edition in this edit.
I am not sure if that's correct. I tried testing it, and lost count, but it was certainly more than 64. The value 384 looks reasonable but I don't know if it's correct.
Fishing rods in Bedrock Edition do last a very long time, I've noticed. Even if you fish up a damaged enchanted rod, you can use it for quite a while, often long enough to fish up another enchanted rod. Amatulic (talk) 04:33, 24 May 2021 (UTC)
Has research on the behavior of the enchantments for the Fishing Rod in the following cases been conducted yet? 1) When a Fishing Rod is swapped with another when the bobber is already in the water. 2) When two Fishing Rods are equipped, one in the off hand and one in the main hand, which one's enchantments apply. If so, can someone add the results to the page? FallBackITA (talk) 02:42, 1 March 2022 (UTC)
I noticed under the 1.13 JE history, it contains the sentence "Fishing rods no longer display as unknown when called by a target selector." Fishing rods are not entities, so does this instead apply to the fishing bobber? Also what does it mean for an entity to "display as unknown when called by a target selector"? Does it literally display "Unknown" if the name of the entity is meant to appear in command output, or does it display some raw translation string, which is typical for entities without a given actual name. Or does it just mean that it couldn't be called with {{cd|@e[type=minecraft:fishing_bobber}}? It just seems like such a bizarre statement and clarification is needed. ZacNVR (talk) 10:55, 25 October 2023 (UTC)
In the Obtaining section, under trading, it says "The enchantments are the same as the ones obtained from an enchantment table at levels 5–19.". However, the phrase "levels 5-19" is not a link, and there doesn't seem to be a table under either "enchantment table" or "enchanting" (which one can get to from "enchantment table").
I would like to make "levels 5-19" a link. Can someone point me to where these "levels" are defined and/or listed? Thanks! SirDaddicus (talk) 18:00, 2 December 2023 (UTC)
The claim that small fireballs can be hooked and reeled in appears to be false. I have tested it extensively in 24w06a, with both stationary and flying fireballs, and I couldn’t get the fishing bobber to interact with the fireball at all. My question is: Has it always been this way or was it possible to hook small fireballs in some past version? --Charlotte Buff (talk) 22:34, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
is there a way to make bobber stop falling down and thus making it floating? 31.30.167.202 21:18, 27 August 2025 (UTC)
Hey I play on an Xbox One and when my dad joins on for couch co-op (were not playing online), my fishing line detaches from the bobber. I was wondering if anyone else is having that problem. Bedrock edition on Xbox only, nothing else. Hoontah1 (talk) 00:33, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
