The current picture is too dark and too small. Perhaps a new one? 173.188.137.206 02:24, 16 December 2012 (UTC)
I originally wanted to title this page “Resource”, on the grounds that on this wiki “Items” refers to non-blocks specifically, and the linked video. However, more evidence (e.g. the Entity ID) says that they are called items by Mojang. This leads to the problem that an item-entity may be a block, i.e. not an item.
This would seem to indicate that we are incorrect to call non-block inventory objects “items” elsewhere on the wiki. But,
However, if we were to find out that such a name exists, I feel that we should make the change, so as to have a clear and consistent vocabulary. We can see that there is a problem from the circumlocutions and assorted words used to refer to the subject of this article: "Item (entity)", "dropped item", "dropped blocks/items", "drops", "resources", etc.

As of at least 1.5, item despawns seem to have been decreased to 1 min. Can someone else please verify and add this to the article, please? 65.33.107.187 23:52, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
Just saying, it says on Xbox you press B to drop items when you hit down on the dpad to drop items on default controls. Larryoofoof (talk) 02:19, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
"Item pickup range for players is 1.425 blocks."
So does it mean you have to be within a 1.425-block radius to pick up an item? 76.65.23.224 13:13, 25 June 2021 (UTC)
So the item pickup radius is the same for other mobs? 99.225.26.102 21:00, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
In the latest version of the game, 1.21.5, I saw that items falling from a height bounced regardless of the block underneath when they hit the ground. Cıva i ile yazılmaz (talk) 18:15, 14 April 2025 (UTC)
Would be nice some information on how hostile mobs like zombies and skeletons can pick up armor or weapons to equip.
