rd-132211 is a pre-classic, is it not? TheAwesome98 (signed out) 13:59, 2 July 2020 (UTC)
So just recently, I saw a new version in the 1.6.6.1 version of the launcher called rd-20090515 which obviously means May 15th, 2009. Any person please edit the version history to include the version if you can. --Ktoby (talk) 21:54, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
I'm actually wondering why Pre classic only lasted six days. My guess is that Notch decided to have Pre Classic last six days. Or maybe he just didn't have time--69.242.110.19 19:34, 18 August 2013 (UTC)
The reason the development phase only lasted six days, is because that is how long it took for the game to be made good enough to be released to the public. –Preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.195.246.29 (talk) at 09:33, 7 September 2013 (UTC). Please sign your posts with ~~~~
Ahhh thanks I have been wondering why--69.242.110.19 20:53, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
Do you guys like the idea of renaming the Pre-Classic pages to "Cave Game" since that's what Notch originally called it? Screenbones (talk) 01:18, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
#1: This sentence from the Pre-classic rd-132211 page seems a little "off" to me: "rd-132211 is a version of Pre-classic released on May 13, 2009".
I don't mind the term "pre-classic" as a versioning name, for example in page names or in table headers. But when talking about it in prose, using it as a proper noun, it makes it sound like "Pre-classic" was a thing at the time.
So it seems like, when we say "it was a version of Infdev", that makes sense. Infdev was what it was called in those days. But when we say "it was a version of Classic" ... it was never called Classic or Pre-classic until years later, so using it as if it were a proper noun like Infdev or Alpha or Beta sounds funny.
Why not just use it as a non-proper adjective, like, "rd-132211 is a pre-classic version released on May 13, 2009"? What do people think?
#2: It led me to think also, where did we first start using the terms "Pre-classic" and "Classic"? Obviously after the time period, right, but when?
#3: And what was the rationale saying, this part is classic, and this part is pre-classic?

Should this page be moved to "Java Edition pre-Classic" and all rd-versions of it as well? eg "Java Edition pre-Classic rd-20090515" – Nixinova 👁 Image

Now that versions such as mc-161607 have been documented, the line between "Classic" and "pre-Classic" become blurrier. The mc-s were released privately; does this make them "Classic" versions"? What about versions before 0.0.11a which were still not released to the public. All we're going off here is the version number. – Nixinova 👁 Image

can you tell me why are pre-classic versions not publicly released 92.53.21.29 16:19, 30 November 2024 (UTC)
I spent a time recently thinking about Minecraft old versions and today I want to discuss about Pre-Classic, I think Pre-Classic era ends at "0.0.11a" , I know, I know that 0.0.11a consider to be a classic version but hear me out
What was the rationale saying, this part is classic, and this part is pre-classic?
We know during the Alpha era all versions before Indev are called Classic, And in the 10th Anniversary we know for sure that 0.0.23_1 is a Classic version (classic.minecraft.net), So Survival Test is Classic and seems to be that Multiplayer Test is classic and Early Classic is definitely classic
Enough talking about Classic let's discuss what is Pre-Classic, Pre-classic is not official name, It's a name given by Minecraft Wiki community and is about the versions before Classic,
The versions that everyone agrees is rd-132211 to rd-161348
But I also believe that "private alpha testing" are Pre-Classic because it's the same versions that released in the same day with bug fixes and caves
I have a question how can we consider development phase without a single release! like what if we didn't have any archived of any of this versions that was not meant to be released to the public, How can we call it Cave Game without caves! And all this previous versions are like a development builds for 0.0.11a
That lead me to the complete version of Pre-Classic that released to the public "0.0.11a" that is the same version with the same world gen with bug fixes and a true public release that marked the end of this development phase
And starting with 0.0.12a the development of Early Classic begin added bedrock, water and lava, along with a world boundary and a new world generator.
"Making 0.0.11a Pre-Classic will give it more value, People like to play the last version of the development phases like a1.2.6, in-20100223, c0.30... 0.0.11a will be in this case the complete version for people to try out pre-classic plus the first Minecraft public released ever that why we celebrate 17 May for every year" MostaKH70 (talk) 15:22, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
