Sculk Sensor redstone signal

[edit source]
Latest comment: 10 December 20201 comment1 person in discussion

While I was testing the Sculk Sensor in-game, I found out that it can only output a redstone signal of the following strengths:

  • 12 (when the source is 0-2 blocks away)
  • 10 (when the source is 3-4 blocks away)
  • 8 (when the source is 5 blocks away)
  • 6 (when the source is 6 blocks away)
  • 4 (when the source is 7 blocks away)
  • 2 (when the source is 8 blocks away)

The way I tested it is by using a crossbow while standing out of the detection range of the Sculk Sensor to shoot an arrow at various distances (including half-block distances) from the Sculk Sensor. Can this be replicated or confirmed in other ways? If it can, then I believe that it should be added to the page and that a note should be added to the Block States table stating that of those states are unobtainable in Survival. --Mestesso123 (talk) 17:01, 10 December 2020 (UTC)

Teleportation

[edit source]
Latest comment: 10 February 20242 comments2 people in discussion

I had two odd thoughts: does teleportation register as a vibration, and do ender pearls count as projectiles? If the answer to both of those is no, then ender pearls may count as a viable way to travel the deep dark, if an expensive one. If teleportation does not register as a vibration, then endermen have a stealthy mode of travel that other mobs do not. I currently only have Bedrock Edition, so I am unable to test how sculk sensors respond to either of these. PegasusDust (talk) 23:16, 18 January 2021 (UTC)

I just noticed that ender pearls are registered as level 3 and 2, respectively when thrown and when landing. However they do not seem to produce minecraft:teleportation for me which is stated in the chart. -> mistake? Why do most of the images in the gallery say “Ditto”?– Unsigned comment added by VillagerCraftMC (talkcontribs) at 23:16, 16 February 2021 (UTC). Sign comments with ~~~~

Hmm, sounds like vandalism. Ill ask for permission to remove just incase it means something else. James Haydon (talk) 23:17, 16 February 2021 (UTC)

Ditto means "the same thing"

Moveable by pistons?

[edit source]
Latest comment: 14 April 20211 comment1 person in discussion

I cant load up minecraft right this minute, can someone do some research on whether sculk sensors can be moved by pistons? that would be useful info to add to this page --Desmondc474 (talk) 02:19, 14 April 2021 (UTC)

Sculk sensors cannot be moved by pistons nor be pulled by sticky pistons. Sculk sensors does not stick to sime or honey blocks and has no effect when the blocks are being pushed.

Wool occlusion?

[edit source]
Latest comment: 23 April 20211 comment1 person in discussion

Has wool occlusion been added to bedrock yet? From what I've seen in the changelogs sculk sensors have not even been touched since 1.16.210.56? Gamma Eaglit (talk) 15:53, 23 April 2021 (UTC)

Hey Batbrain1998. I would like to tell that i just want put the details of crafting with Calibrated Sculk Sensor that just added from Minecraft snapshot 23w12a and today in the latest snapshot. But why then revert the page to the previous revision for these reasons. So now can i add the calibrated sculk sensor crafting details please. I swear god please say yes Batbrain1998, because i have seen the calibrated sculk sensor in the latest Minecraft snapshot.FrogsHive (talk) 16:09, 15 April 2023 (UTC)

Oops. I'm sorry sure. The discussion is being interrupted when i just saw that someone was usually reverting the page to the previous revision. I should contact with any administrators for help. FrogsHive (talk) 14:50, 16 April 2023 (UTC)

Hey Capopanzo. We need talk to you for a moment. So why did you just revert the page to the previous revision when i tried to put the details of crafting with the another variant known as calibrated sculk sensor due to the latest Minecraft snapshot before 23w12a. There is no reason to do this in Minecraft Wiki, so can you explain to me why Capopanzo. BoxFigs Plus (talk) 23:59, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

Please respond a message Capopanzo. I want to put the details of Calibrated Sculk Sensor. BoxFigs Plus (talk) 23:38, 19 April 2023 (UTC)

Hey Capopanzo. We need to talk sure. I don't like how you just revert the edits from the plains page and then villagers page before reverting the Calibrated Sculk Sensors details in sculk sensor page. You know why, because i just used "usually" which is currently not a disruptive word and not affected to any other users, so i just contacted BDJP007301 administrator to contact help if you an alt administrator or not and even may have to block you by IP andress with the expiration date up to three weeks. Now you better redo the pages from sculk sensor, villager, and plains page immediately or usually else this will happen sure Capopanzo. I swear. :( FrogsHive (talk) 15:19, 22 April 2023 (UTC)

Please, stop these comments. If you check "editing summaries", you'll see Batbrain hadn't reverted stuff, he had just corrected information added by somewhere else before. The Capapanzo's one was a revert, but it was a justified one. We use the non-section headers for "summaries" about the feature, and thus we don't say "if I can use this item in crafting or not", unless it is item's main purporse (which isn't in this case). Also, you haven't done any edit on Villager. Plains revert was justified too.
Additionally, threatening somebody who made justified edits to be blocked is definitely not OK, and you may cause the actual opposite - You may be blocked and also your sock. --TreeIsLife (talk) 15:40, 22 April 2023 (UTC)

FrogsHive: I'm sorry sure. But i just want to know if the word "usually" is a disruptive word or not TreeIsLife. So is it true that i can use this word. Also, i could try to open editing summaries that you just know honey. FrogsHive (talk) 17:28, 23 April 2023 (UTC)

Different vibration frequencies for creative

[edit source]
Latest comment: 8 June 20241 comment1 person in discussion

I have noticed that at least for boats and minecarts, some vibration frequencies detected for entity damage (frequency 7) and entity dies (frequency 15) are different depending if a player performs an action in survival or creative. For example, breaking a boat in survival by any means creates a frequency of 15, but breaking a boat either by punching, or using a weapon (even a bow) while in creative mode will instantly destroy the boat and create a vibration frequency of 7 (tested in 1.20.6). Don't know if this is a bug. Should we mention this in the article? Rampage455 (talk) 20:40, 8 June 2024 (UTC)

As written, it doesn't look like the formula for signal strength to distance is an inverse proportionality, but a linear/affine relationship. If the formula is correct, maybe it should be expressed as "a decreasing function of"?

Ladder Vibration

Does climbing a ladder count towards the "Step" vibration type? Which output does the player generate when climbing a ladder? Estetique (talk) 13:07, 7 November 2025 (UTC)

Shared vibrations frequency table across multiple pages

[edit source]
Latest comment: 11 January2 comments1 person in discussion

Calibrated Sculk Sensor, Vibration and this page all contain different versions of the vibrations frequency table. To simplify the maintenance of this information, my thought is to use Partial Transclusion to transclude the table from the Vibration page in this page. For Calibrated Sculk Sensor I already implemented the change, for this page the information from its table needs to be included in the information from Vibration.

I added more detailed description to the Vibrations Talk page. Please put any thoughts and feedback you have on that page so the discussion is in one place. Tainmere (talk) 11:33, 8 January 2026 (UTC)

I've merged the table from this article into the Vibration article with some improvements to the text formatting.
A good next change would be to move the changes to vibration frequencies in the history to Vibration as well, as these changes are not direct changes to the behaviour of the sculk sensor. Tainmere (talk) 12:01, 11 January 2026 (UTC)

Resolved

In the "Things which are not detected" section, a reference for "Inserting an eye of ender into an end portal frame" is MC-209798, "Sculk sensors are not activated upon using bone meal." This bug has been fixed, and the removal of its bullet point likely led to the bug being put onto the portal frame bullet point.
