article vs. chart

[edit source]
Latest comment: 2 August 20152 comments2 people in discussion

I believe the article version is better as it has information where the pack can be purchased, the cost of the pack, the Mash-up packs, and I think it just looks better. Wolffillms (talk) 14:36, 2 August 2015 (UTC)

That information is already in the header, there is no need to repeat the exact same thing 10 times just because "it looks better". GoandgooTalk

Mash-up packs

[edit source]
Latest comment: 2 August 20152 comments2 people in discussion

I believe the Mash-up pack section does belong on this page as Mash-up packs contain a texture pack along with a Skin pack. Wolffillms (talk) 17:38, 2 August 2015 (UTC)

Yes, I see your point that mash up packs include texture packs, however there shouldn't be duplicated information on two separate pages. Either the information is only on this page or only on that one. GoandgooTalk

Original Halloween Texture Pack isn't listed

[edit source]
Latest comment: 9 July 20244 comments2 people in discussion

Legacy Console Edition had two "Halloween texture packs" available.

The original one, released in 2013, was free to download and was not tied to any mash-up pack. In 2015 4J re-released it as part of the Halloween 2015 mash-up pack. This created a rather interesting situation for those who own both of them (I may post an example of this if anyone is interested). 95.220.122.104 20:20, 7 July 2024 (UTC)

Interesting, do you own both? Was the 2013 pack kept updated after the release of the 2015 mashup pack?--Capopanzo (talk | contribs) 19:27, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
I don't own both of them, but it's rather trivial to pirate LCE DLCs.
I'm not sure if there are any differences between 2013 and 2015 releases of the pack. Someone should probably check if colored lighting from TU30 is available in 2013 ver. 95.220.122.104 20:03, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
Managed to unlock the 2013 pack on xenia and did a few quick tests of the 2013 version in TU19 and TU31, comparing it with the 2015 pack on I have on legacy Switch edition.
The 2013 pack didn't receive the custom colored lighting in TU30, the UI was completely changed in the 2015 pack (the 2013 pack keeps the old design), some blocks received animated textures in the 2015 version (2013 keeps the old non-animated textures), a few textures were changed (noticeably short grass and stained glass, again the 2013 pack keeps the old ones), dandelion and rose/poppy were swapped (again 2013 keeps the old one), end portal effect and end skybox were changed in the 2015 version (2013 keeps them vanilla), paintings were changed in the 2015 pack and unlike everything else they were also changed in the 2013 pack. Newer blocks seem to use the same textures as the 2015 pack.
I'll test more thoroughly and on more versions in the following days--Capopanzo (talk | contribs) 21:43, 9 July 2024 (UTC)

Skins that are related to some texture packs

[edit source]
Latest comment: 2 November 20241 comment1 person in discussion

There exists a small selection of skins that are designed for certain texture packs while not being a part of any mash-up pack.

To be more specific,

  • Super Cute Texture Pack has a skin pack. AFAIK both can only be purchased as a "bundle".
  • in LCE, Plastic Texture Pack changes the default texture of Steve. AFAIK it's the only texture pack that does so.
  • Additionally, Second Birthday Skin Pack features plastic versions of Party Steve and Creeper.

I'm not sure how to note these skins in the article or even if they should be noted at all. 95.220.90.150 15:49, 2 November 2024 (UTC)

Texture pack/Mashup pack panoramas???

[edit source]
Latest comment: 3 January2 comments2 people in discussion

On both bedrock and legacy console, if you use one of the legacy packs, it changes the panorama. Im assuming that the mash-up pack panoramas are images of the mash up pack map, but what are the texture pack ones? the city one looks like a city block with houses 67.241.164.193 17:04, 17 May 2025 (UTC)

Seems a lot of them are builds by 4J Studios that were simply never released. There are some oddities to this trend though, as the panorama for Mass Effect is not the map that it came with, it seems to be referencing something from that franchise. It's even used as the background of the skin pack icon in the skins menu. 👁 Image

What’s the Plastic Steve texture from?

[edit source]
Latest comment: 30 January11 comments3 people in discussion

The Palstic Steve skin is in the gallery, but Theres not anny information about where it came from. I have the plastic texture pack in the marketplace and it doesn’t come with any skins. Was it from a different skin pack? Was it exclusive to legacy console edition? WearyEagle77054 (talk) 21:58, 3 January 2026 (UTC)

Plastic Steve is from the Plastic Texture pack itself. The Steve texture is replaced by the pack. 👁 Image

Any yes, this could potentially be a Legacy exclusive feature. It's not a skin, just changes the way default Steve looks. 👁 Image

It seems to be a legacy exclusive feature the Steve head in the creative inventory on bedrock has the normal head. WearyEagle77054 (talk) 15:01, 6 January 2026 (UTC)
Nevermind theres char.png in the files, but I don’t think it’s used for anything. WearyEagle77054 (talk) 15:04, 6 January 2026 (UTC)
Oh okay, that's pretty interesting. I'd imagine the default skins are no longer replaceable like that due to the character creator. I think at one point in bedrock's history it would have worked and I would not be surprised if it did actually change the skin before the default skins were handled by the character creator. 👁 Image

Oh! That’s cool WearyEagle77054 (talk) 17:31, 4 January 2026 (UTC)
Are there anymore texture packs that change the way Steve looks or just the plastic texture pack? WearyEagle77054 (talk) 17:31, 4 January 2026 (UTC)
Unfortunately not. This feature extends to all of the default skins btw, each of them can be overridden if defined in the data PCK file, steve.png, alex.png, and steve and alex 1-7 all have support to be replaced. Even DevSteve and DevAlex. I wish 4J took advantage of this more because it not only looked cool, but it made the player head in the texture pack fit better with the rest of the pack 👁 Image

sorry not steve.png, which is used for the player head lol, but char.png and char1-7. It's in the classic Java skin format since they were added long before the others 👁 Image

I made a section about this in the draft for the Plastic Texture Pack: Minecraft Wiki:Projects/DLC/Plastic Texture Pack#Player skins
Feel free to elaborate on the technical details in there. -- 👁 Image

The table should have the latest update in this page and the mash-up pack page.

[edit source]
Latest comment: 25 March7 comments3 people in discussion

The table that lists the texture packs and mash-up packs should have a column that has the latest update (The Plastic Texture Pack has new baby mob textures so it would say Tiny Takeover, but the Steampunk texture pack doesn’t have the Sniffer texture, so it would say The Wild Update).

I put this here to discuss if it’s a good idea or not.

I don’t have all the texture packs and mash-up packs, but here’s the list:

Plastic - Tiny Takeover

Natural - Tiny Takeover

Fantasy - Bundles of Bravery

City - Mounts of Mayhem

Candy - Bundles of Bravery

Cartoon - The Wild Update

Steampunk - The Wild Update

I don’t have Steampunk or Super Cute

Mash-Up Packs:

Halo - Bundles of Bravery

Festive - The Wild Update

Greek Mythology - Tiny Takeover

Halloween - Bundles of Bravery

Mario - Mounts of Mayhem

Chinese Mythology - The Wild Update

Nightmare Before Christmas - Chase the Skies

Toy Story - Chase the Skies

I don’t have mass effect, Skyrim, littlebigplanet (or a PlayStation), fallout, adventure time, Norse mythology, Egyptian mythology, pirates of the carribean, or Steven universe. WearyEagle77054 (talk) 00:00, 25 March 2026 (UTC)

Support, should be fairly helpful for readers. A lot would probably come to the page to gauge which they should get. Realshow19 (talk) 00:05, 25 March 2026 (UTC)
