I removed the redirect to Talk:Java_edition_version_history as I believed the version history page should have an accompanying talk page. I for one do not like the new system, but mainly because it shows people are moving away from Java Edition, which I see as the true Minecraft. Anyway, I figured I would create and seed the talk page for the new system that was put in place. Firebastard (talk) 02:11, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
Since this page is turned to be a disambiguation page, there is also another disambiguation page that was used to be the disambiguation page before the move. We should merge these two page together.--Skylord wars (talk) 13:33, 19 April 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah, you're right. I completely forgot about that page. I would suggest deleting this page and moving Version history (disambiguation) to this title.-- Madminecrafter12π Image

Remove "Java Edition (blank)" for versions of the game that never existed in other versions
[edit source]
What I'm saying is, now after that naming issue, we have things like: "Java Edition 0.0.23a_01" and "Java Edition Classic" and "Java Edition 3D Shareware v1.34" when there was NO BEDROCK EDITION VERSION NAMED THIS. The purpose of moving many pages was to prevent confusion, but now there is more confusion. I am fine with naming things like "Java Edition 1.8" to not be confused with "Bedrock Edition 1.8" or "Playstation Vita 1.8" or "4K Edition 1.8" but I mean really, certain versions were not, are not, and will never be in Bedrock Edition or any other edition. I don't know if this is the right place to put this issue (feel free to let me know if it isn't) but this is annoying and completely unofficial. And since this is the OFFICIAL Minecraft Wiki we need to be as official as we can.

- Another point is consistency: while there is no "Bedrock Indev" or anything it's better to have everything have the prefix. And "Java Edition" is the official name, as opposed to the "unofficial" prefix of "bedrock edition". There would be more confusion is only some pages were prefixed as you wouldn't know what version the page belonge to at first glance. β Nixinova π Image

- Yeah, but this was before they called it Java Edition. Heck, this was before other versions even existed. This was when it was referred to as PC/Mac Edition. This was back in 2010. That's what I'm talking about. Plus, the only people who wouldn't know what 'Classic Minecraft' was would be the newbies. And a newbie probably wouldn't look up specific snapshots, Classic versions, etc. anyway.--AwesomeNinja886 (talk) π Image

03:32, 18 May 2019 (UTC): BTW, Nixinova, "Bedrock Edition" is official.
- It's not shown in-game. People who play bedrock might just search for "1.11.2" or something and then be confused if they get the java page titled "1.11.2", which is what you seem to be arguing. We had a whole discussion about this a while ago. Anyway, inconsistency would be way more confusing than having "Java Edition" in the title. All the redirects still exist; anyone searching for "Alpha v1.2.6" or "Beta 1.2 will get redirected to the java page. β Nixinova π Image

- Oh, and by the way (this is just an example) if you rename the Lightning page "zappy thingamabobber from the sky :O" and have "Lightning" redirect to it, that doesn't mean that is the official name.--AwesomeNinja886 (talk) π Image

I'm trying to install indev versions, and am wondering how exactly to install said versions of Minecraft on my computer. Definitely know things about navigation and computers, so don't eli5.

- The wiki isn't a place to get help with this, try any of the official support resources. --Morpheus836 (Greymagic27) (talk) 14:13, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
Currently the released editions for Minecraft are titled '** Official game, or Java Edition (November 18, 2011 β Present)'
I think this should be changed since it's not the 'official' game because Bedrock edition is a thing. It should just say 'released versions'--Morpheus836 (Greymagic27) (talk) 14:14, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah there's been a consensus for a long time that Java Edition is not considered the "official" edition. I've changed it to "Official Release" to make it clear that it's the release of the game that's official and not the edition necessarily.--Madminecrafter12 (Talk to me | View what I've done) 14:18, 14 April 2020 (UTC)
Who makes the update pictures and ads for Minecraft? I am trying to get in touch with them. - MattTheBanana (talk) 02:07, 24 June 2020 (UTC)
I was just searcing through different stuff when i found a thing that said "This page documents a formerly unreleased version. This version was never intended to be released to the public, but it is available in archived copies." but what im curious about is the image it was a reinforced deepslate block with a slot the image was called "Sculk Portal BE1" The easiest way to find it is to find the "Minecraft 2.0" page. what i what answered is where this image originated, any info would be appriciated. Make Update be a page explaining what an update is

Like on my userpage, User:Simanelix/Updates. Also, having a concise table of all major updates seems helpful. Thoughts? --Simanelix (T|C) 16:02, 5 June 2025 (UTC)

Neutral. We already have Named update and Version types. I think all information about updates as well as an overview of major updates could be included in those pages, but they still need a lot of improvement. I don't really know if page organization like that is optimal. MinecraftBedrockPlayer7 (talk) (contribs) π Image

- Oh, now I feel a little dumb for not finding those pages and checking them out. I'll update them. --Simanelix (T|C) 22:29, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
- No don't be, those pages aren't actually navigable at all from searching "Update". (I've updated Update (disambiguation) to fix that.) Your page is very well written, please incorporate anything from your page thats not already on Version type into it, thank you! Nixinova ββT β C 23:34, 5 June 2025 (UTC)
- I finally went through and updated the pages. It took me a few days of pondering. I think I'll make some overview tables for Edition-specific named updates next. --Simanelix (T|C) 20:38, 7 June 2025 (UTC)

- Apple TV Edition is part of the Pocket Edition nomenclature, so a separate section for it is not necessary. BDJP (t|c) 16:46, 21 November 2025 (UTC)
- This page is only meant to be a brief summary of the updates to the game, and not a comprehensive list of what has been changed in those updates. Also, 1.12.4 does not exist. βMitsos [ talk | edits ] 15:25, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
