Mod parameter

[edit source]
Latest comment: 20 March 20115 comments2 people in discussion

Any thought of adding a "mod" parameter that allows linking to articles under Mods/{{mod}}/{{ingredient}} rather than linking directly to an article under the core namespace? I'm no expert with MediaWiki templates so the concept of adding one myself is a bit intimidating. --JT 03:05, 19 March 2011 (UTC)

The template wasn't originally intended to be used with mods, I just stuck a category in as a temporary thing so the mod items at least aren't confused with official ones. The problem with your suggestion is not everything on the table is a mod item, if a mod recipe uses sticks for example, it's going to link to the wrong place. The only solution would be to add an entire new set of parameters, I'll probably work on this later. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 05:56, 19 March 2011 (UTC)
This has now been added. Documentation and Grid/Furnace in progress. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 04:30, 20 March 2011 (UTC)
Grid/Furnace and both doc pages are now complete. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 05:25, 20 March 2011 (UTC)

Animations

[edit source]
Latest comment: 29 March 20111 comment1 person in discussion

I uploaded the updates to make animations possible without animated gifs. Currently it only works for the default style! Also the JavaScript and CSS still has to be uploaded (like described here).

Please if there is any bug in it, report on my talk page (or fix it yourself of course).

Also maybe someone has to correct my commits to the doc page. (My English isn't that good.) --STS(t|c) 20:12, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Translating

[edit source]
Latest comment: 9 April 20112 comments2 people in discussion

On the Dutch wiki I made a little modification to translate links. The template originally links to the same page as the name of the image. To change that you need a database of English words and translations (like this one). If some languages are interested, take a look at the Dutch templates or contact me on my talk page.--STS(t|c) 14:08, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Ok, this is extreme. I have removed all the links in german (link=), you can't click on the pictures. -- Oliver Scholz - de.Wiki Admin 10:32, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Optimizing

[edit source]
Latest comment: 9 April 20111 comment1 person in discussion

I've made an optimized version for this template, but it no more supports the image parameter. So before uploading we have to make sure all page are updated to the new way of animating grids. I sthere some list of pages already converted? Or is there an abbylity to get a list from media wiki of pages using the image parameter of this template? The optimized version will support animating grids using mods.--STS(t|c) 10:24, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Bug with Animated Items

[edit source]
Latest comment: 2 June 20112 comments2 people in discussion

For animated items with a quantity value (ex: breaking an ore block into 9 ingots), the quantity number link is wrong. It links to all of the items being cycled through seperated by underscores. An example from the Crafting page:

Name Ingredients Input » Output
Minerals Block of Iron or
Block of Gold or
Block of Diamond or
Lapis Lazuli Block
👁 Invicon Block of Iron.png: Inventory sprite for Block of Iron in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Block of Iron with description: Block of Iron
👁 Invicon Block of Gold.png: Inventory sprite for Block of Gold in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Block of Gold with description: Block of Gold
👁 Invicon Block of Diamond.png: Inventory sprite for Block of Diamond in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Block of Diamond with description: Block of Diamond
👁 Invicon Block of Lapis Lazuli.png: Inventory sprite for Block of Lapis Lazuli in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Block of Lapis Lazuli with description: Block of Lapis Lazuli

👁 Invicon Iron Ingot.png: Inventory sprite for Iron Ingot in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Iron Ingot with description: Iron Ingot
👁 Invicon Gold Ingot.png: Inventory sprite for Gold Ingot in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Gold Ingot with description: Gold Ingot
👁 Invicon Diamond.png: Inventory sprite for Diamond in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Diamond with description: Diamond
👁 Invicon Lapis Lazuli.png: Inventory sprite for Lapis Lazuli in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Lapis Lazuli with description: Lapis Lazuli

Click on the "9" to see what I mean. Anyone know how to fix this? --Warlock 20:16, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

I've fixed a bug in the {{Grid/Crafting Square Slide}} template, but the error you have is not from the template. You should have as much OA values as Output values :

👁 Invicon Lapis Lazuli.png: Inventory sprite for Lapis Lazuli in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Lapis Lazuli with description: Lapis Lazuli
and it will work nicely. – Scaler (t) 01:19, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

images vs styles

[edit source]
Latest comment: 12 December 20114 comments3 people in discussion

I saw you guys use images to make the background of the grid, but there is an easier method, not requiring position:absolute;, but just letting it fit in the table cell. Here is an example:

Styled table:

👁 Image

As you can see that styled table looks (almost) identical to File:Grid layout None (small).png, and changing the height and width to 46px you got the large background image. I think this would be quite useful, but do with it what you want. Also, if you don't know how to add this or something, I could add it myself too, but I'd like to hear what you think about it first Joeytje50 10:03, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

It doesn't look the same though, look at the corners. The image is tiny anyway, it's not really going to make any difference. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 11:29, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
He didn't say it was "the same"; he said it was "almost identical". I couldn't even tell the difference until you mentioned it and I leaned in to get a better look. Though, personally, I don't much care for tables (I'd use a positioned div, myself) and, as you said, the image is small. The difference, really, is negligible. If a situation is ever encountered where an image is unwieldy, though, bordered elements should be taken into consideration.  ;) ~Markus talk | contribs 08:42, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
This is an old discussion, since then I have a prototype of the template that uses 3 divs to make an identical looking background instead of using the image. Once it has animation support it'll be replacing the current template. –ultradude25 (T|C) at 13:51, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

Someone replaced the template with a single image. I tried to revert it, but it doesn't appear to have worked entirely? --billybobfred 21:41, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

Shapeless recipes

[edit source]
Latest comment: 3 June 20124 comments2 people in discussion

We need a better way to indicate shapeless crafting recipes, such as those of Mushroom Stew, Book, Fire Charge, Book and Quill. Any ideas? —Fenhl 00:24, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

I think it's pretty good! --Dyon 11:43, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Custom Images or Items

[edit source]
Latest comment: 16 April 20192 comments2 people in discussion

Is there any way to add a custom image/item to a crafting recipe? For example.

{{Crafting Table
|A1= Sweet Berries |B1= Milk Bucket |C1= Sweet Berries
|A2= Egg |B2= Sugar |C2= Egg
|A3= Wheat |B3= Wheat |C3= Wheat
|Output= [[File:PancakeInvSprite.png]] (Pancake Stack)
}}

would output

👁 Invicon Sweet Berries.png: Inventory sprite for Sweet Berries in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Sweet Berries with description: Sweet Berries
👁 Invicon Milk Bucket.png: Inventory sprite for Milk Bucket in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Milk Bucket with description: Milk Bucket
👁 Invicon Sweet Berries.png: Inventory sprite for Sweet Berries in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Sweet Berries with description: Sweet Berries
👁 Invicon Egg.png: Inventory sprite for Egg in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Egg with description: Egg
👁 Invicon Sugar.png: Inventory sprite for Sugar in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Sugar with description: Sugar
👁 Invicon Egg.png: Inventory sprite for Egg in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Egg with description: Egg
👁 Invicon Wheat.png: Inventory sprite for Wheat in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Wheat with description: Wheat
👁 Invicon Wheat.png: Inventory sprite for Wheat in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Wheat with description: Wheat
👁 Invicon Wheat.png: Inventory sprite for Wheat in Minecraft as shown in-game linking to Wheat with description: Wheat

with 👁 Image
in the output slot with the mouseover tag of "Pancake Stack".

I've tried to put only the image in, but it glitches out and states there's a problem with the module. DarthKeidran (talk) 23:51, 15 April 2019 (UTC)

Template Parameter

[edit source]
Latest comment: 2 July 20254 comments2 people in discussion

I've tried to use this template to show a recipe, but there's a problem.

IT NEVER SAID WHAT PARAMETER NAME I SHOULD USE

I mean, like, I know I'm talking like a noob, but when I try to put in the recipe data, It shows NOTHING.

I've tried Recipe, Crafting Table, etc., but I can't find any parameter name that works. Am I just putting it in the wrong spot or what? I would really appreciate it if you helped.

Sorry if I'm just stupid and editing it in the wrong place. Aden8000 (talk) 19:32, 2 July 2025 (UTC)

The parameter names are A1, A2, A3, B1, B2, B3, C1, C2, C3 for ingredients and Output for, well, output. Letters determine columns and numbers determine rows. — BabylonAS 19:36, 2 July 2025 (UTC)
I'm talking about like what the name of the parameter is. Like when you edit it, it asks you to name a parameter? Aden8000 (talk) 21:41, 2 July 2025 (UTC)
Okay that actually works Thank you Aden8000 (talk) 21:59, 2 July 2025 (UTC)
