Color parameter problem

[edit source]
Latest comment: 26 October 20191 comment1 person in discussion

This template cannot represent the colors well if a biome has multiple colors in one feature. For instance, the badlands biome has different water and underwater fog colors in JE and BE, which are not shown clearly in the infobox provided by the template. --[[User:Hatsuki kiri|👁 EntitySprite snow-fox.png: Sprite image for snow-fox in Minecraft

Thoughts regarding usage of this template

  • The title parameter is universally used to place a BiomeSprite in front of the biome name, e.g. |title = {{BiomeSprite|plains}} Plains. The purpose of a Template is to provide uniform formatting while eliminating redundancy. With this in mind, this call to BiomeSprite ought to be integrated into this template.
  • The purpose of imagesize is not clear, as there is no obvious reason why biome images shouldn't all be the same size.
  • The "type" parameter seems to refer to what the Biome page calls "category". Terminology should be consistent.
  • The documentation for "type" suggests that "Snowy, Cold, Medium/Lush, Dry/Warm, Aquatic, or Neutral" are the only valid values. However, the following types are also in use: Snowy/Icy, Lush/Temperate, Temperate/Lush and Medium/Mild. The last three all appear to be synonymous with Medium/Lush. It is not clear what a "Neutral" biome is, as no biomes have that type.
    • I suggest replacing the current, motley assemblage of slashed biome descriptors with "Frozen", "Cold", "Temperate", "Hot" and "Aquatic". The value passed for "type" should be checked against this set, and values which don't match should be rejected.
  • Rarity values appear to be questionable. The only biome marked as "Very rare" is the Modified Badlands Plateau, but its text description calls it the second-rarest biome, after Modified Jungle Edge, which is only "Rare". No biome is marked "Very common", not even vanilla Forest and Plains.
    • This documentation indicates that rarity is determined empirically by generating a new world and polling the region around the origin. However, it does not say anything about how or when this is done, or by whom. If it was last done eight years ago, it's reasonable to assume that changes in world generation have altered the probabilities.

Terrain Features

[edit source]

A mislabeled typing exists, where Features are added to the structures list instead of a terrain Feature, including: trees(All types) and cobblestone outcrops(Tiaga). This change should be implemented to reach parody with features, I was unsure where to change the template so I made a request for its addition

Temperature and type

Should biome temperature (used for farm animals / frogs) and type (from the biome page) be added? 👁 Image

Type is not a real thing so that's certainly not going to happen, and temperature in the context of animal variants seems too trivial for the infobox, it's already covered by prose. MinecraftBedrockPlayer7 (talk) (contribs) 👁 Image
