Template talk:Version exclusive

When is this template meant to be used? I've only ever seen it used once on the wiki and I removed it since the feature mentioned was not version-exclusive by any means. – ZacNVR (talk) 01:15, 10 January 2024 (UTC)

I see. These articles tend to be Bedrock and Legacy Console articles, which, as a Java player, I don't visit very often. For future reference, this template refers to features that are edition exclusive, especially regarding non-Java versions. – ZacNVR (talk) 03:26, 10 January 2024 (UTC)

I just genuinely dont see how this is useful. The newest update page this was used on is a console edition page from a 2019 update, meaning it is by no means currently used. 👁 Image

It shouldn't be used for new pages, as parity is expected, but older console versions are meant to be ports of the equivalent Java update, so pointing out version exclusives is useful.  Nixinova  T ⁄ C  21:07, 4 December 2025 (UTC)

PE and LCE were meant to be direct ports of JE. Each update added JE features, which sometimes had to be tweaked due to platform constraints. This template points those cases out, as otherwise the expectation is that behavior and features match what was in JE at that time.  Nixinova  T ⁄ C  01:34, 2 May 2026 (UTC)
