Create & manage tasks in Google Calendar
In Google Calendar, you can create, view, and change tasks.
Create a task in Calendar
- Open the Google Calendar app π Calendar
. - Tap Add π Image

Task π Image
. - Enter a title and description.
- Choose a date, time, and frequency.
- Tap Save.
View, edit, or delete tasks
Tasks must have a date to appear in Google Calendar. To turn on Tasks:
- Go to the Calendar app π Calendar
. - At the top left, tap Menu π Menu
. - Make sure the βTasksβ box is checked.
- Any tasks with dates will appear on your calendar.
Tip: A list of all uncompleted tasks from the last 365 days are shown as βPending tasks,β which can be found in the current day.
- Open the Google Calendar app π Calendar
, - In the top left, tap Menu π Menu
. - Uncheck the box next to βTasks.β
- Open the Google Calendar app π Calendar
. - Tap a task to update π and then
Edit task π Edit task
. - Update task details.
- Tap Save.
- Open the Google Calendar app π Calendar
. - Tap a task to update π and then
Mark completed.
Completed tasks are shown on your calendar by default.
To hide completed tasks crossed out in your calendar, you can adjust your settings.
In your settings
- On your iPhone & iPad, open the Google Calendar app π Calendar
. - Tap Menu π Menu
π and then
Settings π Image
π and then
General. - Turn off Show completed tasks.
- On your device, open the Google Calendar app π Calendar
. - On the calendar grid, tap the task you want to report.
- At the top right, tap Options π More
. - Tap Report as spam π and then
Report as spam.
When you delete a task from your calendar, itβs removed completely.
- Open the Google Calendar app π Calendar
. - Tap the task to delete π and then
More π More
π and then
Delete π and then
Delete task.
To check all uncompleted tasks from the last 365 days:
- Open the Google Calendar app π Calendar
. - While viewing a dayβs schedule, tap Pending tasks.
- In the pop-up list, choose how to update pending tasks:
Learn about task notifications
- If you add a date and time to your task, you get notifications at the scheduled date and time.
- Tasks with a date also appear in the Calendar app.
- For tasks without a time, notifications appear at 9 AM.
- For tasks with a deadline, you get a notification to complete the task on the day of the deadline at 9 AM in your local time.
Learn about repeating tasks
- To repeat a task, select the date and time π and then
Repeat π Image
. - Tasks with subtasks can't repeat.
- In Calendar, a certain number of upcoming instances of a repeating task will appear on the calendar grid, and as time passes, new ones will be added automatically.
