Granite pegmatite outcrop (100 m high / 400 m diameter hill). Thomas and Davidson (2010) identified many exotic minerals in microscopic fluid inclusions. Alluvial gold occurs in streams near the pegmatite.

Type Locality:
Description: Hafnon was found in zonated ziron-hafnon crystals from Muiane. Bulk xrf data gave a Hf/(Hf+Zr) ratio of 53-78 in average. When the same samples were microprobed the results gave a Hf/(Hf+Zr) ratio in the range 92-97 on the "spot with the highest hafnon content". (Correia Neves et al. 1974).
