This quarry, operated in the late 1800s and early 1900s by the City (Corporation) of Montreal, was on the north-northeast slope of Mont Royal, one of the Monteregian Hills. It is now buried under the Université de Montréal Sports Complex. It is the co-type-locality for caresite (Chao & Gault 1997). The associated minerals are given in the paper. The Corporation quarry is also a Dana locality for native arsenic; it was found in 1892 as a vein cutting nepheline syenite. Of historical interest is that one of the earliest publication of minerals from the quarry was by A. Lacroix in 1890 (THE Lacroix of "Mineralogie de France" etc.).

Clark (1952) called the quarry "a rich hunting ground for minerals." The quarry's unusual mineral diversity is due to the presence of gabbro and nepheline syenite, and dykes of various compositions, all of which contact and intrude Ordovician-age limestone. At the contacts, the limestone is metamorphosed to marble. Cavities in a nepheline syenite dyke yielded microcrystals of the caresite for which the quarry is a co-type-locality.
