The material under this study came from the Václav vein, which is one of the important vein structures of the Březové Hory deposit and is hosted by a dolerite dyke cutting the Lower Cambrian greywackes, sandstones, and conglomerates.

The Václav vein was exploited by the Anna shaft between the surface and the 36th level. Despite the large depth extent (around 1,300 m), the economic importance of the Václav vein was inferior due to the overall low proportion of ore mineralization. The richest parts of the vein were concentrated on the crosscuts with the František, Jánská, and Karolínská veins in the upper and middle depths of the deposit. The Václav vein is considered to be one of the youngest ore veins, together with the Jánská, Karolínská, Prokop, and Zikmund veins. The general direction of the Václav vein is 15° and its dip is 80° to the ESE. The presence of quartzose graywacke in deeper horizons east of the Václav vein had a negative influence on the extent of ore mineralization.

Massive chalcocite and bornite ores were mined from the Václav vein in the 1850s from depths of about 350–400 m (15th and 16th level of the Anna shaft).
