Slate quarry workings that linked underground to Cwmorthin Quarry; the slates are cut by various basic dykes and tuff turbidite bands known to the miners as "cherts".

Minerals at Gloddfa Ganol Quarry are generally rare, small to microscopic, and usually occur in small cavities within Alpine-type veins within the dykes. However, quartz can occur as crystals up to several centimetres.

The assemblage within the vugs consists of quartz, albite, chlorite, anatase, synchysite, and pyrite with minor apatite, galena, sphalerite and chalcopyrite.
