With Budgie 10.10 released this weekend, Budgie desktop developers have provided an update around Budgie 11 desktop development.

Following the Budgie 10.10 desktop release that transitioned from X11 to Wayland, Budgie 11 is entering development and it's going to be leveraging the Qt6 toolkit. Budgie developers are moving forward in adopting the Qt6 toolkit for its user interface.

Beyond using Qt6, Budgie 11 is looking to be re-architected to make it more modular and enhancing it all around. Budgie 11 will also likely be leveraging the KDE Frameworks with its collection of various helper libraries.

Those wanting to learn more about the initial plans for Budgie 11 can learn more via the 2025 recap and 2026 look ahead at BuddiesOfBudgie.org.
