Intel's Clear Linux Demonstrates Software Optimization Benefits On AMD EPYC 9005 Series

For the ClickHouse database server Clear Linux's lead was quite small. AlmaLinux 9.5 (RHEL 9.5) is showing its age on modern AMD EPYC servers but Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10.0 (RHEL 10) will be officially debuting in the coming weeks.

👁 CockroachDB benchmark with settings of Workload: KV, 50% Reads, Concurrency: 512. Fedora Server 41 was the fastest.

👁 Memcached benchmark with settings of Set To Get Ratio: 1:5. Fedora Server 42 was the fastest.

👁 Memcached benchmark with settings of Set To Get Ratio: 1:10. Fedora Server 42 was the fastest.

For some workloads the performance was flat across all of the Linux distributions tested.

👁 Memcached benchmark with settings of Set To Get Ratio: 1:100. AlmaLinux 9.5 was the fastest.

Clear Linux and AlmaLinux did stretch their legs in some of the Memcached benchmark runs.
