Amazon's Graviton Has Evolved Into A Formidable CPU Contender: Graviton1 To Graviton4 Benchmarks

Right out of the gate with the benchmarks conducted the Graviton4 performance shows the huge generational uplift from Graviton3 but also how far AWS Graviton performance has evolved over just the past five years... With HPCG the Neoverse-V2 cores help out along with the larger caches and also the increased memory speed and four additional memory channels.

On a performance-per-dollar basis with current hourly on-demand pricing, the R8g metal performance was far ahead of the prior Graviton metal instances.

While Graviton4 allows 96 cores per processor compared to 64 cores with Graviton2 and Graviton3, the performance-per-core was about 25% higher than with the Graviton3 metal instance.

Graviton4 really leaps ahead of Graviton prior instances with various HPC benchmarks and does so while delivering the best value of these tested Graviton instance types and on a per-core basis around 25~30% better than Graviton3.

Even with simpler workloads like LZ4 compression, Graviton4 drives big speed-ups over prior Graviton3 and fascinating to see just how far the AArch64 performance has evolved in the half decade of Graviton's existence.
