Intel Arc B570 Graphics Performance On Linux

It will be exciting to see how the Intel Battlemage performance evolves on Linux with succeeding open-source updates over the weeks to come.

Across the range of GPU compute benchmarks carried out, the Arc B570 in these OpenCL benchmarks had an average power draw of 86 Watts and a recorded peak of 162 Watts.

For the compute benchmarks ran on all the tested graphics cards, the Arc B570 on a geo mean basis was similar to the Arc A770 -- granted in some benchmarks Battlemage still has room for optimizations/fixes relative to Alchemist and around 86% the performance of the Arc B580. In these compute benchmarks the Arc B570 was about 12% faster than the AMD Radeon RX 7600 XT on the ROCm OpenCL driver.

Overall the Intel Arc B570 is an interesting graphics card for $219 USD in hitting this cost effective price point while boasting 10GB of vRAM. For Linux users there is the fully open-source driver stack for Battlemage when using the newest upstream code on Linux 6.12+ and Mesa 24.3+. There still is room for Battlemage driver optimizations as noted in various tests but the Battlemage support is off to a nice start for those in the market for a budget graphics card in 2025 and looking to have open-source, upstream Linux driver support.

Thanks to Intel and ASRock for sending over the Arc B570 review sample for launch-day Linux testing and more benchmarks will come as the Linux driver support matures.
