The Core Ultra X7 also led with the Ngspice circuit simulation software.

Across 300 benchmarks the Intel Core Ultra X7 358H "Panther Lake" within the MSI Prestige 14 laptop was delivering very strong performance and leading power efficiency. The CPU performance of the Core Ultra Series 3 "Panther Lake" exceeded my expectations on Linux with the combination of performance and power efficiency.

Across the 300 benchmarks carried out spanning single and multi-threaded applications and many different domains, the Core Ultra X7 358H was very competitive to the AMD Ryzen competition and a strong upgrade over prior generation Intel mobile processors.

Again, these were with all the laptops at their default modes and it's possible with the "performance" profile to push Panther Lake further -- stay tuned for those benchmarks as they wrap up in the coming days. Plus the Intel Arc B390 Linux benchmarks and many other follow-up Panther Lake Linux benchmarks to come.

On average across the 300 workloads the Core Ultra X7 358H had a 15 Watt power consumption and a recorded peak of 64 Watts, below the ~19 Watt average of the AMD Strix Point laptops tested while often delivering the best performance too.

Stay tuned for the various Intel Panther Lake laptop follow-up articles to come looking more at the Core Ultra Series 3 under Linux. Thanks to Intel for supplying the MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+ Evo review sample for Linux testing at Phoronix.
