Linux 6.12 Through Linux 7.0 File-System Benchmarks For EXT4 + XFS
For sequential read performance there has been a big improvement since Linux 6.16 that allows the EXT4 sequential read speed under FIO to match XFS.
For the sequential write performance, EXT4 on Linux 6.16+ is in much better shape than Linux 6.15 and older. But XFS still was consistently performing better than EXT4 for the sequential write speed under FIO.
