DuckDB has also been enjoying lower latency on Linux 6.13+.

Lastly was a look at the PostgreSQL database performance. Besides the improvement from Linux 6.12 to Linux 6.13, PostgreSQL on the EXT4 file-system experienced a nice performance boost on Linux 6.16 as anothr standout period. On the latest Linux 7.0 development kernel the gap is now very close between EXT4 and XFS for this popular database server.

EXT4 gained the most since Linux 6.12 LTS in late 2024 in this file-system comparison. The EXT4 performance is much closer to XFS since Linux 6.16 and is continuing that way through Linux 7.0 Git.
