AMD Radeon AI PRO R9700 Offers Competitive Workstation Graphics Performance/Value
First up were the SPECViewPerf benchmarks for stressing the OpenGL stack with this dominant workstation graphics benchmark on Linux. SPECViewPerf 2020 is still used since for those unaware the newer SPECviewperf 15 still is Microsoft Windows only without a Linux build. The Radeon AI PRO R9700 was understandably a bit slower than the Radeon PRO W7900 but did come out nicely ahead of the RTX 4000 Ada Generation graphics card for the CATIA-06 viewset. The power efficiency of the R9700 wasn't particularly impressive but where this new graphics card came out very strong was in performance-per-dollar compared to the W7900 and the NVIDIA competition.
With the CREO viewset, the Radeon AI PRO R9700 wasn't far behind the much more expensive RTX 6000 Ada Generation graphics card.
The Radeon AI PRO R9700 was consistently outperforming the RTX 4000 Ada Generation graphics card with the SPECViewPerf Linux benchmarks and in turn driving much better value than the other graphics cards tested.
