A First Look At Ubuntu 25.10 Performance On AMD Strix Halo / Framework Desktop

The OpenSCAD open-source 3D CAD modeler was showing some small performance gains on Ubuntu 25.10 with this AMD Ryzen AI Max+ desktop.

They were mostly small but consistent performance improvements observed for the CPU workloads on Ubuntu 25.10 with its current state one month out from release.

With nearly 100 benchmarks carried out on this Framework Desktop powered by the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 "Strix Halo", the current Ubuntu 25.10 development build came out to being 3% faster overall the Ubuntu 25.04. Granted, Ubuntu 25.10 isn't yet finalized ahead of its release in October, so come release time once everything is finalized I will carry out additional benchmarks.

There are some nice kernel improvements, graphics gains in some areas like ray-tracing, additional performance optimizations possible if/when Mesa 25.2 + Linux 6.17 go through, and other nice incremental improvements over the initial state of the Framework Desktop on the current Ubuntu 25.04 release.
